Understand Your Preparation Goals

Preparing for the AACE Certified Cost Professional exam takes planning, practice, and a clear sense of what you need to study. The exam covers cost fundamentals, cost estimating and manufacturing cost, planning and scheduling, project and cost control, project management, and economic analysis, statistics, probability, and risk. This course gives you a structured way to practise that range, check where you stand, and build a steady study routine before your exam.

What This Course Covers

This course contains 560 multiple-choice practice questions, divided across six sections:

Section 1: Cost Fundamentals (92 questions)

Cost classification, cost versus price, activity-based costing, life-cycle costing, financial ratios, work breakdown structures, and equipment costs.

Section 2: Cost Estimating and Manufacturing Cost (80 questions)

Estimate classes, contingency versus management reserve versus escalation, estimating methodologies, learning curves, and manufacturing cost behaviour.

Section 3: Planning and Scheduling (82 questions)

Critical path method, float, relationship types, lag and lead, crashing versus fast-tracking, resource levelling and smoothing, and schedule baselines.

Section 4: Project and Cost Control (100 questions)

Earned value calculations, index and variance interpretation, EAC formula selection, ETC and VAC, TCPI, and productivity factors.

Section 5: Project Management (93 questions)

Contract types and risk allocation, quality assurance versus quality control, value engineering, organisation structures, communications, claims, and change management.

Section 6: Economic Analysis, Statistics, Probability and Risk (113 questions)

Time value of money, NPV, IRR, MARR, payback, statistics and probability, risk management responses, Monte Carlo analysis, and the Total Cost Management framework.

Learn Through Practice

Each question is followed by a detailed explanation. The explanation for the correct answer is marked clearly, and each other option is explained as well, so you can see why it does not fit. Reviewing both correct and incorrect answers is where much of the learning happens, especially where two cost formulas look similar but apply in different situations.

Practice With 560 Questions

Multiple-choice questions help you apply what you have studied, check your understanding, and become familiar with question-based assessment. The questions in this course mix direct knowledge questions with realistic project scenarios and calculations, so you practise both recall and judgement. You can take the tests in any order and repeat them as often as you like.

Understand the Reason Behind Each Answer

Do not rush past a question after you see the score. Read the explanations, note the topics where you guessed, and keep a short list of weak areas. When a scenario question surprises you, ask yourself which cost concept it belongs to and which formula or rule the situation calls for. That habit is useful well beyond this course.

Study at Your Own Pace

You can organise your study around the six sections. Start with cost fundamentals, then work through estimating, scheduling, cost control, project management, and economic analysis, or begin with the area you feel least sure about. Revisit a section, repeat its questions, and focus extra time on the topics that keep catching you out.

Build a Practical Exam Preparation Routine

A simple routine works well:

1. Study one section at a time.

2. Answer its practice questions.

3. Read every explanation carefully.

4. Write down the topics you got wrong or were unsure about.

5. Repeat the questions to check your improvement.

6. Review your notes before your exam.

Practice scores can help you spot weak areas, but they do not guarantee exam results.

Is This Course Right for You?

This course is for you if you are preparing for the AACE CCP exam, if you work in cost engineering, estimating, scheduling, or project controls, or if you want to check your cost knowledge before the exam. It is also useful if you want to refresh cost concepts after training, or to learn how total cost management applies across a project.

Recommended Study Method

1. Review the topics in one section.

2. Practise its questions after studying the topic.

3. Read the explanations carefully, including for answers you got right.

4. Record incorrect answers and uncertain topics.

5. Repeat the questions to measure improvement.

6. Review your notes and weak topics before your exam.

Practice scores help you identify weak areas but do not guarantee exam results.

Professional and Career Relevance

Knowledge of cost engineering supports day-to-day work in estimating, scheduling, and project controls, from building estimates and tracking earned value to managing contracts, claims, and risk. It helps you talk about cost, schedule, and value in a way that employers and project teams recognise, and it gives you a shared language with engineers, estimators, and managers. This course focuses on that practical knowledge, and on preparing you for the AACE CCP exam.

Who Should Enroll?

- Cost engineers, estimators, schedulers, and project controls practitioners preparing for CCP

- Learners who want to check their cost knowledge before the exam

- Learners who want to refresh cost concepts after training

- Learners who work with budgets, schedules, or project performance

- Learners who want structured practice with clear explanations
